The short version
Orb TV is made by Precision Data. We use the information you share to run Orb, give you recommendations that fit your taste, answer your messages and keep the service secure. We do not sell personal information, we do not read your viewing history inside other streaming apps, and you can see, change or delete what Orb remembers about you.
This is a draft written for Orb TV's early access. It will be reviewed by a lawyer before Orb is released, and the final version may differ.
Information we collect
What we receive depends on how you use Orb. You can browse this website without telling us who you are. When you join early access or use the apps, we may collect:
• Account details such as your name, email address, region and the language you use.
• Profiles you create for people at home, with each profile's taste, saved titles, collections and settings.
• What you tell Orb: your requests, follow-up answers and the feedback you give, such as loved it, already seen it or less like this.
• Your choices inside Orb: the streaming services you pick, titles you open, save or mark as watched, and, if you allow it, how you use Orb so recommendations improve.
• Technical information such as device type, app version, approximate location from your IP address, crash reports and basic usage needed to keep Orb working.
• Messages and early-access sign-ups you send through this website.
What we do not collect
Orb does not read your viewing history inside other streaming apps, does not listen to your room and does not use the microphone unless you choose to speak to Orb. Opening a title from Orb does not tell us that you watched it.
How we use information
We use information to run Orb, build and update your taste profile, suggest titles with a reason for each one, show where a title is available in your region, sync your shortlist between phone and TV, look for new matches while you are away when you turn that on, answer support requests, prevent abuse and improve the service. We send service messages when needed and other messages only where permitted; you can opt out at any time.
Orb and AI
Orb uses AI models to understand what you ask and to choose and explain suggestions. The text of your requests is sent to the AI providers that power Orb so they can produce an answer. We choose providers that process this information for Orb only and do not use it to train their own models where that option is available. Suggestions can be wrong; you stay in charge of what you watch.
Our reasons for processing
Depending on the laws that apply, we process information because it is needed to provide Orb to you, because you have given consent, because we have a legitimate interest in running and securing the service, or because the law requires it. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who receives information
We share only what is needed with providers that help us host Orb, store data, provide AI features, send email, measure performance and give professional advice. When you open a title, Orb hands you over to the streaming service's own app or page; that service's privacy policy then applies. We may disclose information when the law requires it or to protect people, rights or the service.
Profiles, shared TVs and children
Each person at home can have their own profile. Personal chats and saved titles stay in that profile and do not appear on a shared screen unless you choose to share them. Orb is not directed to children who cannot consent to this processing where they live; a parent or guardian who creates a profile for a child is responsible for it and can delete it at any time.
Retention and security
We keep information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, for legal records or to resolve disputes. You can delete a profile, a conversation or your whole account, and we then delete or anonymise the related data within a reasonable period, except where the law requires us to keep it. We use practical technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security.
International processing
Some providers may process information in another country. Where safeguards are required for such transfers, we rely on contractual protections or another lawful mechanism under the applicable privacy rules.
Your choices and rights
Inside Orb you can review what it remembers, correct it, delete it or pause learning. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to certain uses, and to complain to a privacy authority. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Updates and questions
We may update this policy when Orb, its providers or the law change; the date at the top shows the current version. Privacy questions or requests can be sent through the contact page or to [hello@orbtv.app].
