Built with open source
Orb stands on the work of open-source communities. This page lists the open-source projects Orb uses, the licence each one comes with and where to find it. Open-source parts stay under their own licences, and nothing in our other terms limits your rights under them.
This is a draft written for Orb TV's early access. It will be reviewed by a lawyer before Orb is released, and the final version may differ.
Arc Launcher
Orb's Android TV launcher builds on Arc Launcher, an open-source Android TV launcher licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 (GPL-3.0). We keep Arc Launcher's licence notice and credits with our code, and we thank its authors and contributors.
What the GPL-3.0 means for you
GPL-3.0 software comes with the freedom to use, study, share and change it, and anyone who distributes it must pass on the same freedoms and make the corresponding source code available. How Orb's own code is licensed, and where its source can be obtained, will be published on this page before Orb is released.
Other components
Orb also uses other open-source libraries in its TV app, iPhone app and services. A full list with each licence will be published here and in the apps' settings before release.
Trademarks
Open-source licences cover code, not names or logos. Arc Launcher and other project names belong to their owners; Orb TV and its logo belong to Precision Data. Streaming service names and logos belong to their owners.
Questions
If you are an author of a project we use and something here is missing or wrong, or you would like a copy of the source code Orb is required to share, write to us through the contact page or to [hello@orbtv.app].
